Renovated Miami House Revisits the 1970s – DIRT

Ah, the 1970s. Who doesn’t remember them nostalgically? Even Gen Z-ers and Gen Alpha kids are getting into the retro swing of things, with their revivals of prairie dresses, rompers and flared pants. Sure, there were high gas prices, inflation, and rampant unemployment. But, it was also an era of fabulous disco hits, groundbreaking network TV comedies and movies that have withstood the long test of time.

With the ’70s fashionable once again, albeit without polyester leisure suits and pet rocks, it’s now high time to embrace the best of the Me Decade at home, with fun-loving interior design, high-tech kitchens, and backyard pool parties! (Maybe best, however, to leave the key parties and Quaaludes behind!)

This recently renovated compound in Miami, available for just over $3.5 million via Lucrecia Lindemann at Dezer Platinum Realty, is replete with an all-stainless-steel kitchen worthy of the Galloping Gourmet, groovy pendant ball lighting, a funky spiral staircase, exposed beams under a vaulted ceiling, and the pièce de résistance, a hanging fireplace that screams 1975.

Set on a generous parcel of almost an acre, the 1970s pad sold in distressed condition in 2020 for a hair over $1 million. According to the current listing, the sellers lavished quite a lot of time and money on getting the place back into outtasight condition. There are six bedrooms, six bathrooms, and one powder room within its 4,400 square feet.

The fun starts in the main house, where an Elton John wannabe can tickle the ivories to “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” on the grand piano. With its marble tile floor that’s perfect for perfecting the Electric Slide, the living room is open to the kitchen, while the fireplace and large TV jostle for attention.

Naturally, the party continues in and around the completely redone freeform pool, with, of course, a waterfall. All the decks surrounding the house are new, and they extend to a gorgeous outdoor kitchen, as well as the funky-AF two-story tiki hut that’s ready for the ultimate in boogying down all night. All the exterior lights have been renewed, for fun and safety, as has the security system.

Whoever built this house in the ’70s knew how to have fun, that’s for sure. And now that it’s been refreshed for a new decade (and a new century), residents and guests will get to experience the best of that decade — all of 50 years later.

Ready? Crank it! BURN BABY, BURN! DISCO INFERNO!
