Woman accuses well-known Miami-Dade cop of misconduct

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A woman said Officer Matt Larsh pulled out his gun and pointed it at her husband’s head during a recent traffic stop in Miami-Dade County.

Larsh made headlines last year when he was injured while he was riding an MDPD motorcycle on duty. He underwent rehabilitation and returned to work earlier this year.

The woman, who did not want to be named, accused Larsh of misconduct. She recorded a video of the unmarked sports utility vehicle with police lights that she said he was driving last week.

The woman said that for a moment she was sure Larsh was going to shoot her husband right in front of her, so she started to use her phone to record him. She said Larsh covered his face and left.

“He was saying through the PA, through the speaker phone, ‘If you don’t drop your windows, I’m going to drop you,’” said the man’s wife. “The energy felt like the officer was going to shoot, he was already aiming to my husband’s head.”

The couple from this latest incident, even now knowing Larsh’s backstory, say a traumatic accident doesn’t give him the right to terrorize their family, and they demand accountability. They’ve already reached out to the FBI and Department of Justice. She said she wants him to be punished.

“My daughter could have been in that vehicle, my mother could have been in that vehicle,” she said. “That could have been your son, your husband. Nothing gives him the right. We are exhausted of police misconduct.”

Miami-Dade police did not confirm that Larsh is the one behind the incident, saying only that it’s all still under investigation.
