Josh Allen and Pat Mahomes Are Among the NFL Stars Who Made Big Real Estate Moves in the Off-Season

The NFL season is just kicking off, but some of its biggest players have been busy making real estate moves over the last few months.

Whether they are playing for new teams—and thus both selling and buying—or investing in a retreat in their home state, these four football stars are making plays for posh pads across the U.S.

Jalen Ramsey, Miami Dolphins

Jalen Ramsey, the 28-year-old Miami Dolphins cornerback, was traded from the Los Angeles Rams earlier this year (although he’s currently sidelined with a knee injury). The Tennessee native is no stranger to the south, and scooped up a brand new $5.6 million Miami-area abode at the beginning of the summer, Mansion Global has learned. The nearly 6,000-square-foot home in Pinecrest features oh-so-Florida interiors, with walls of windows, bright white walls and light wood cabinetry. Ramsey purchased the home through an LLC he also used to purchase another one of his properties: a Los Angeles, modern farmhouse he listed for $13.995 million in May, The Wall Street Journal reported. Located in the celebrity-enclave of Hidden Hills, the 2020 home sits on more than an acre and is replete with amenities: seven bedrooms, a gourmet kitchen, a newly built guest house, a custom sauna, a basketball court and a built-in barbecue area, plus a full gym and a built-in trampoline. Ramsey bought the property for about $9.5 million in 2020 from “America’s Got Talent” host Howie Mandel, records show.

Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

Quarterback Josh Allen, 27, may play for the Buffalo Bills, but his heart is in his home state of California, where he bought a four-bedroom $7.2 million beach house in July. Located in Dana Point, California, near Monarch Beach, the gated 2,808-square-foot residence has a planted courtyard leading to the foyer, a living room with a fireplace and access to the backyard, a formal dining room and a stainless steel kitchen. Outside, there’s a hot tub and terrace, plus room to add a pool, according to the listing with Sotheby’s International Realty. The community is home to two other NFL quarterbacks, including Sam Darnold, who plays for the San Francisco 49ers, and Mark Sanchez, who retired in 2018 after a 10-year career.

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Not one but two properties owned by Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, 27, and his wife, co-owner of the women’s soccer team Kansas City Current, Brittany Mahomes, are currently on the market. Last week, a 1,800-square-foot Kansas City, Missouri, penthouse hit the market—after a four-year hiatus—for $550,000, according to Realtor.com. It offers three decks, including one on the roof, plus two bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms. In addition, the couple is looking to offload a ranch house in the city for $2.9 million. Mahomes bought the 4,759-square-foot home in 2019 for nearly $2 million and it features three bedrooms, an entertainment level with a bar and lounge, a putting green, heated pool and hot tub. Mahomes—son of former MLB pitcher Pat Mahomes—was drafted by the Chiefs in 2017, and has led them to two Super Bowl victories. He and his family live on a Missouri estate he bought in 2000 that boasts a pool, a private pond, a par-3 golf hole and a 50-yard football field, according to the New York Post.

Aaron Rodgers, New York Jets

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, 39, was traded to the New York Jets from the Green Bay Packers in April—so obviously he needed a place to live. He found one over the summer on the border of Montclair and Cedar Grove, New Jersey, dropping $9.5 million on the deal, according to New Jersey Monthly. Built in 2020 and sitting on 2.39 acres, the eight-bedroom, 10-bathroom mansion has far-reaching views that include the New York City skyline, walls of windows, a media room, a wine cellar and an office, plus a three-car car garage with a charging station, a whole house generator and solar panels. In addition, Rodgers sold a San Diego, California, home for $5.13 million in 2022, after having owned it for 12 years, The New York Post reported at the time. The controversial quarterback—who was outspoken on vaccinations during the peak of the pandemic—announced last week that he would return to the popular sports program “The Pat McAfee Show,” now on ESPN, for “Aaron Rodgers Tuesdays,” the Post reported separately.

Representatives for Allen, Mahomes and Rodgers did not respond to requests for comment. A representative for Ramsey declined to comment.
