‘It’s going to affect the rest of your life’

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Voters at a Miami Beach precinct lined up early Tuesday morning up to make sure that their voices were being heard on Election Day.

Voters like Michael Oliveira shared with Local 10 News’ Annaliese Garcia on why this election is so important.

“It’s important,” said Oliveira. “It’s going to affect the rest of your life — especially this election.”

Some people were up as early as 7 a.m. to cast their votes as poll workers prepared to get the precinct ready.

“I think it’s very important that us as citizens voice our opinions and beliefs,” said voter Jeremy Hernandez.

“We like to exercise our right to vote,” said voter Maria Reyes.

Some of the things people will vote on include laws that involve women’s rights and legislation for school teachers and first responders.

Voter Dylan Sinnickson said that he’s coming out in support of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

“The policies that Ron DeSantis has supported over the last few years have really been groundbreaking,” said Sinnickson.

Miami Beach resident Julia Bassiri told Local 10 News that she plans on voting for the Democratic side.

“I just moved down here,” said Bassir. “I’m interested in keeping our bubble a little bit more blue.”

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Voters must go to their assigned voting location and bring a valid and current identification that contains a photo and their signature.

“The people who we put in front are the ones that are going to determine our future,” said Hernandez.”
