How to Watch the Philadelphia Union vs. Atlanta United – MLS (8/31/22) | Channel, Stream, Preview


A heavy slate of action is set for Wednesday night across Major League Soccer, as the push for the playoffs continue, as one of the top teams in the league hope to maintain their stature, as the Philadelphia Union get set to host Atlanta United.

Though they have suffered a couple of losses in recent weeks, Philadelphia still remain a few points above the rest of the Eastern Conference coming into this week’s matches. They currently sit five points in front of CF Montreal and nine ahead of New York City FC. They are closing in on the top spot for the Supporters’ Shield, as they are only three points back of Los Angeles FC. They made easy work of the Colorado Rapids this past Saturday, winning by a big 6-0 margin. The victory marks the second match in a row where Philly as scored six goals, as they did so the week before against last-place D.C. United. The Union have won three of their last four matches, and are second in the MLS in goals for, with 57 total tallies in 2022.

Atlanta is among nine clubs fighting for the last three playoff spots in the conference, as just nine points separates fifth-placed Orlando from the Chicago Fire, who sit 13th. Atlanta is just three points behind Inter Miami and the Columbus Crew, who are in a tie for sixth in the East. They are coming off a win on Sunday against D.C. United, and have lost just one of their last six matches, going 2-1-3 during that span.

This will be the second of two matches this season between the two squads, as Atlanta will host Philadelphia on Sept. 17.
