Miami football trending late for three-star DT Ahmad Moten

Three-star defensive tackle Ahmad Moten is trending late to the Miami football program. Moten had five crystal balls from 247 Sports logged on Tuesday. Rivals.Com projects Moten to sign with Miami at 100 percent. Moten is the brother of former Miami DT Anthony Moten. Moten had his Miami official visit last weekend.

Moten had 39 tackles, six tackles for loss and three sacks during a breakout senior season for Cardinal Gibbons. One of the fastest rising players in the Class of 2022, Moten is the 584th player, 82nd defensive linemen and 79th in Florida. Miami is competing with Iowa State, North Carolina Oklahoma and Tennessee for Moten.

Moten has been busy since early December. The first official visit for Moten was to Iowa State the weekend of December 10. In January in addition to Miami, Moten took official visits to Tennessee, North Carolina and Oklahoma. Moten received the offers from North Carolina and Tennessee in December.

Moten would be the first interior DL the Miami football program signs in the 2022 Class. The Hurricanes added top 100 edge rushers Nyjalik Kelly and Cyrus Moss during the Early Signing Period in December. Miami also added transfer DL Jacob Lichtenstein from USC and Antonio Moultrie from Alabama-Birmingham.

At 6’2, 290 Moten would provide Miami with needed size in the middle of the DL. Jared Harrison-Hunte and Leonard Taylor project to start at DT in 2022. Lichtenstein is the likely backup. Mario Cristobal. Moten could anchor the interior of the Miami DL in two years. Harrison-Hunte is eligible to enter the 2023 NFL Draft.

Taylor will be eligible in 2024. Miami is also recruiting Moten’s Cardinal Gibbons’ teammate R. Mason Thomas. Thomas is committed to Iowa State but a half dozen crystal balls including three on Tuesday project him to flip to Oklahoma. Adding Moten would be a good signing for Miami this late in the cycle.
