ACC foes should keep it close

Only two days after falling at home to Duke, Notre Dame travels to Coral Gables for an ACC matchup with Miami (Fla).

Action Network analyst Charlie DiSturco is here to give his breakdown of the matchup (video above), which sees Miami enter as five-point favorites.

Even though Miami is 8-2 in ACC play entering Wednesday’s tilt, DiSturco likes the Fighting Irish to keep it close in Coral Gables.

“[Miami’s] problems lie on the defensive end of the floor,” DiSturco says. “Notre Dame is a top-50 offense in terms of three-point shooting…and Miami ranks outside the top-300 in defending the three-ball.”

Additionally, DiSturco believes the line is an overreaction to the Fighting Irish’s showing against Duke on Monday, a game in which coach Mike Brey’s squad shot 3 of 18 from distance.

DiSturco believes that against a Miami defense that relies on its offense to carry the team in ACC contests, Notre Dame will recover nicely and play a close game away from South Bend.

Finally, while the current consensus line is +5, DiSturco says he would take the points with the Fighting Irish up to +4.

A win for the Irish would extend its winning streak against the Hurricanes to four straight and give them a 6-5 edge in terms of its ACC historical record against Miami.
