Carson Spiers

Last time out was a bit of a struggle for Carson Spiers as he allowed four runs – including three home runs – in 4.2 innings against Detroit.

The sample size is still small, but this season big leaguers from the right side of the plate haven’t found much success against Spiers. They are hitting just .200 while rarely walking and hitting for no power. Left-handed hitters, though, are hitting quite well. They’ve hit for a high average and plenty of power thus far.

Yonny Chirinos

The righty made his first 12 starts of the year in Triple-A where he had a 3.00 ERA with 47 walks in 66.0 innings. His four most recent starts have all come with Miami with his last one against the White Sox where he allowed three runs in 5.0 innings.

The splits this year have been quite big this season for Chirinos. He’s found a lot of success against right-handed hitters who don’t hit for average, don’t walk, and don’t hit for power against him. Lefties, though, have hit well. They have a high average and they hit for plenty of power.
