CHARLOTTE — Duke baseball vs. Miami at the ACC Tournament started in a weather delay, the ACC announced at 5:17 p.m. in Charlotte.
Severe weather was detected in the area and is within 15 miles of Truist Field, prompting the ACC’s response to delay the start of Saturday’s game. First pitch was moved to 7.
The 15th-ranked Blue Devils (37-18) and Hurricanes (27-29) are playing for a spot in Sunday’s championship game (Noon, ESPN2) against No. 8 Florida State (42-14).
First pitch was originally scheduled for 5:40 p.m. following FSU’s 9-6 win against No. 19 Wake Forest in the first semifinal game at Truist Field.
Junior right-hander Ryan Higgins (2-1, 5.77 ERA) is set to start on the mound for Duke, with junior lefty Herick Hernandez (3-7, 6.47 ERA) on the bump for the Hurricanes.
Duke, which earned an 8-1 win against No. 14 N.C. State on Thursday, is aiming for its first ACC Tournament title since 2021. With a win on Saturday, the Blue Devils can increase their odds of hosting an NCAA Tournament regional.
