Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital treats Haitian bishop for burns after explosion
MIAMI – Haitian Bishop Pierre-André Dumas was at Jackson Memorial Hospital on Saturday after arriving at Miami International Airpot.
Archbishop Thomas Wenski welcomed Dumas, of Anse-à-Veau and Miragoâne, who suffered burns during an explosion on Feb. 18.
The explosion comes amid a wave of kidnappings targeting Catholic nuns and priests in Haiti. On Friday, there were reports of seven kidnapped in Port-au-Prince.
Six members of the Congregation of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart were kidnapped at École Jean XXIII and a priest was kidnapped at the Chapel of Our Lady of Fatima, Vatican News reported.
Six members of the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Anne were kidnapped on Jan. 19 and freed on Jan. 24.
