Miami Beach Chamber unveils entertainment partnership

The Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce celebrated accomplishments, inaugurated officials and unveiled upcoming plans that include a new entertainment partnership at its annual meeting, “A Year in Review,” at the W Hotel in Miami Beach last week.

As finger foods, drinks and sweets made their rounds in the venue, members awaited the announcements.

Richard Segal, chairman of the chamber’s executive board and co-managing partner of law firm RFB + Fisher Potter Hodas’s new Miami office, announced that Mount Sinai Medical Center will be back in the chamber.

The chamber announced as well a joint venture with Groot Hospitality, which has six South Florida restaurants and two nightclubs, as Mr. Segal welcomed David Grutman, founder of the Miami Beach company, onto the stage.

“There’s one person on Miami Beach that continuously delivers only the most high-quality hospitality of high-quality events, and I am happy to announce for the first time, and nobody in this room other than him knows this, is that the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce is doing a joint venture with Groot Hospitality and will be doing an annual event each year with David Grutman,” said Mr. Segal.

Brittnie Bassant, the new president and CEO of the chamber following Jerry Libbin’s retirement after 13 years, told the crowd that “I have been here for about two months now. I’m really excited to just jump in with this new leadership. Everyone’s so supportive. I say all the time, you’re only as good as the people you surround yourself with, and nobody accomplishes anything alone.”

The collaboration between Mr. Segal and Ms. Bassant is something to look forward to, members were told, as they plan to work together for the benefit of the city.

“I am really excited for Brittnie to take over as the CEO of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce,” said Mr. Segal. “I think Brittnie and I together will be a really nice new vision and face for Miami Beach, and we look forward to really getting to action and rolling up our sleeves and seeing what we can do for the city.”
