Tiny South Florida town named the nation’s most affordable suburb within a hot housing market

Tiny Medley is one of the most affordable suburbs in the nation to buy a home compared to its large metropolitan neighbor, according to a new analysis from Point2Homes

The study examined the 20 large U.S. cities with the highest median home prices. Miami was No. 14 on that list with a median home price of $565,000. The median price per square foot is $445.

Point2Homes then calculated which suburbs had the highest percentage difference between its median price per square foot and the price per square foot of its nearby major city.

Medley, with a population just over 1,000, has a median price per square foot of $154, a 65% difference compared to Miami. That makes Medley the most affordable suburb in the nation in a hot housing metropolitan area, according to the methodology of the study.

The other suburbs on the top 20 most affordable list are all on the outskirts of New York City, Boston, Seattle and Washington, D.C.
