How to Watch the MLS Cup Conference Finals on October 30 – Philadelphia v. TBD, LAFC v. TBD

Only three matches remain in the 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs, the four remaining clubs will duke it out on Sunday to determine who will play for the championship.

(1) Philadelphia Union vs. (3) New York City FC

  • Time: 4 p.m. ET
  • Where: Subaru Park (Chester, Pa.)
  • Channel: ABC, ESPN3
  • Stream: FuboTV, Sling, DirecTV Stream

A rematch of last year’s ECF will determine who advances to the MLS Cup.

Philadelphia is hoping to avoid another let-down this postseason. After finishing atop the Eastern Conference for the second time in two years, they have aspirations of advancing to the MLS Cup Final for the first time in franchise history. Philly had a little bit of a scare in their first playoff matchup with Cincinnati FC in the conference semifinals 10 days ago. Thankfully, Leon Flach’s first MLS playoff goal in the 59th minute helped break the deadlock, ending up sending the Union to the ECF for the second year in a row.

New York City FC looks to repeat what happened in 2021, where they took down Philly to move on to the championship match. So far, they have looked pretty good so far in the playoffs, beating up Inter Miami in their playoff opener, before outlasting a really good CF Montreal side last week to make it to the conference finals for just the second time in franchise history. NYCFC is trying to keep the hopes of being the first club to win back-to-back MLS Cups since the L.A. Galaxy accomplished the feat a decade ago.

During the regular season, Philadelphia had New York’s number, winning both at Subaru Park and on the road.

(1) Los Angeles FC vs. (2) Austin FC

  • Time: 9 p.m. ET
  • Where: Banc of California Stadium (Los Angeles, Calif.)
  • Channel: FOX Sports 1, FOX Deportes
  • Stream: FuboTV, Sling, DirecTV Stream

The two best in the West will meet to see who represents the conference in the championship match.

After an incredibly disappointing 2021 campaign, LAFC is one victory away from moving on to the championship match for the first time ever. The club has made an immediate impact since joining the MLS four years ago, and came into the playoffs after winning its second Supporter’s Shield as the league’s best club during the regular season. In a rare playoff battle in their El Trafico rivalry, LAFC needed a tally in stoppage time from Cristian Arango to thwart off the L.A. Galaxy to give the club a 3-2 win, and their second trip to the final four of the postseason.

Two strikes in the first half against in-state rival FC Dallas last Sunday helped send Austin FC to the Western Conference Final for the first time ever. The second-year franchise has been exceptional this year, scoring the third-most goals among any club in the MLS. However, they did finish 11 points back of LAFC in the conference standings this season. Yet, they have willed their way through the first two rounds of the playoffs, surviving a first-round encounter with Real Salt Lake that ended up going to penalties before taking down Dallas last week.

LAFC’s incredible run to the conference finals in 2019 was ended by the Seattle Sounders, who went on to defeat Toronto FC in the MLS Cup Final.

Despite LAFC coming in as the potential favorite to win it all, Austin has had the club’s number this year, winning both regular-season meetings.
