Booker and Miami split District 1-1A basketball doubleheader


MIAMI, Texas (KFDA) – District 1-1A action featured Booker at Miami in basketball doubleheader action.

Girls game

The girls were up first with the Lady Kiowas getting early offense from Maria Perez, who found Averi Rosales on the wing. The ball took a minute to decide to fall but went in for Booker.

The Lady Warriors responded with Brylee Thompson figuring out what to do with the ball. She crossed and spun all the way to the paint, aimed for the back of the rim and scored for the Lady Warriors.

Staying with Miami, the ball was thrown to Mia Calvert on the wing, and she launched the three for nothing but net.

The Lady Warriors won big 49-18.

Boys game

At the beginning of the boys game, Jack Kotara brought the ball out of the corner and saw Kaleb Tennant in the middle of the paint, who made the mid-range jumper for Miami.

Booker was ready to respond with the Kiowas pushing to score. They were able to keep it on their side when the ball went loose, but a teammate found Marco Flores on the right side of the three-point line, and the three was good.

Staying with Booker, Korbyn Vance tossed it out of traffic and Flores drove it in, giving it right back to Vance, who made the contested basket for the Kiowas.

The Kiowas grabbed the win 51-37.
