According to ESPN’s November 7 report and Brandon Marcello’s November 8 article for CBS Sports, CJ Carr’s growth was evident throughout the matchup, particularly after his father, Jason, reminded him of the difference between his first Miami start in 2025 and his current form. “A huge difference,” Carr said when reflecting on his development. He also recalled his father’s assessment of that first appearance: “It was a boy playing at Miami for my first start.” This time, Carr looked like a completely different quarterback, leading Notre Dame with 319 passing yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions.
The Michigan native completed 29 of his 40 attempts, consistently making smart decisions and delivering accurate passes against Miami’s defense. His connection with Micah Gilbert was particularly effective, as the receiver caught two touchdown passes during the victory.
Carr also showed his composure when Miami threatened to erase Notre Dame’s advantage. Rather than allowing the momentum shift to affect him, he continued making important plays, including a crucial 36-yard completion to Nolan James Jr. on fourth down.
