Jacksonville To Face Miami (Fla.) In First Power Conference Clash
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — After opening the season with a 75-64 win over FIU, the Jacksonville Dolphins will stay in South Florida as they take on their first Power Conference opponent of the season: Miami (Fla.).
The game is scheduled to tip-off at 7 PM from Miami’s Watsco Center. The game will be streamed on ACCNX.
Ride The Wave
Head coach Special Jennings hit the 50 win mark in her head coaching career with the win over FIU. She boasts a 50-46 record (.521 winning percentage) one game into the fourth season of her time at JU. She is the fourth head coach in program history to reach 50 wins, and she’s two wins away from tying Darnell Haney for third-most in program history.
Welcome To The Show
Jacksonville’s talented freshmen didn’t look like freshmen in their college debuts. Forward Samirah Mamoudou led the team in scoring (21 points) and rebounding (11 rebounds) in her debut. Guard J’Niya Weaver was right behind her, dropping 18 points on 5-10 shooting from the field and 8-8 shooting from the line.
Power Conference History
The Dolphins picked up their first Power Conference win since 2021 when they defeated Georgia Tech 69-64 last season. Eventual ASUN Player of the Year Priscilla Williams had one of her best games in JU green, scoring 29 points to power Jacksonville to a historic win.
The Match-Up
This is JU’s sixth ever game against Miami, with the Hurricanes holding a 4-1 all-time series lead. Jacksonville defeated UM in the first game in series history in 2007, and the Dolphins nearly pulled off the upset in the most recent game in 2024, falling 74-71.
The Opponent
Miami opened the season with a dominant, 27-point win over FAU earlier this week. The Hurricanes are in year three of the Tricia Cullop era. They’re coming off an 18-15 season a year ago that ended in the second round of the WBIT.
