Fans Speculating About Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade After Miami’s Slow Start

The Miami Heat were supposed to be an Eastern Conference contender after acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks. So far, however, they’ve been incredibly disappointing.

In order to acquire Antetokounmpo from the Bucks, the Heat had to part ways with All-Star guardTyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round picks, a pick swap and a second-round pick.

Although the Heat are getting 27.6 points and 11.2 rebounds per game from Antetokounmpo, they’re 1-4 through their first five games. According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, the gap between where the Heat currently are and what they expected to be is “troublingly wide.”

“Even his old Milwaukee Bucks squad managed to win a game in its first four, which is more than Miami can say after falling to Minnesota, Detroit, Charlotte and Dallas,” Amick wrote. “After all these years of speculation about whether the two-time MVP and one-time champion would leave for greener pastures, he finds himself facing an uphill battle that’s not all that different from the one he left behind. So far, anyways.”

Could Giannis be on the move (again)?

Even though it’s so early in the 2026-27 season, NBA fans believe the Heat are under serious pressure to perform. If not, they could find themselves dealing with a disgruntled superstar.

“Get ready for a few more months of Giannis trade quotes and rumors that lead to nowhere,” one fan wrote on X.

“He’s going to ask out,” a second fan predicted.

“He should’ve chose Boston but he chose comfortability over winning. This is his problem,” another fan said.

“The Heat better start looking like a contender or Giannis gonna request a trade,” a fan declared.

It’s important to note that Antetokounmpo can become a free agent after this season. If the losing in Miami continues, it’s hard to imagine him staying with the Heat.
