‘We’ll showcase our city on the world stage’
DORAL, Fla. — Miami Mayor Francis Suarez was in the Oval Office when President Donald Trump announced on Friday that the G20 summit will be held next year at the Trump National Doral Golf Club.
Since the property is not in the city of Miami, but in the city of Doral in western Miami-Dade County, it’s not under the jurisdiction of the Miami Police Department.
“Well, I think everybody wants it there,” Trump said.
Doral Mayor Christi Fraga and Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levin Cava were not in the Oval Office for the announcement. Fraga released a statement on X.
“The G20 is coming to Miami in 2026 — and Doral is ready to shine,” Fraga wrote. “From business to culture, we’ll showcase our city on the world stage.”
