Medical flight that crashed in Philadelphia had been in Miami hours earlier

MIAMI, Fla. (WWSB) – The communications director for an air medic company that crashed in Philadelphia Friday night says he, along with his staff are heartbroken about the disaster that killed all six on board, along with one person on the ground below, and injured at least 19 people.

“Our hearts go out to the patient’s family, our hearts go out to the family of our crew, ” said Shai Gold, of Jet Rescue Air Ambulance.

Gold said the crew, which provides medical air transport for patients from Mexico to the United States had been in Miami hours earlier and then took off to Philadelphia.

“The flight from Miami to Philadelphia was fine, the pilot reported absolutely no problems, “Gold added.

Gold added the flight had picked up a pediatric patient and her mother from Philadelphia and was headed to Missouri, then on to Mexico.

But shortly after takeoff from Philadelphia on Friday evening, the jet crashed into a neighborhood.

Now, Gold is hoping amid the debris field, spanning more than a mile, will uncover the recorder box on the doomed flight.

“We need to find that in order to find out the needed details of what happened and the discussion between the pilot and co-pilot that may’ve led to that air catastrophe, ” he added.
