Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responds to FCI Miami after ‘bloody’ gang fight

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel responded to the Federal Correctional Institution Miami on Saturday after a fight that two federal correctional officers described as bloody.

One of the correctional officers said the injuries stemmed from a conflict between Puerto Rican and Mexican gang members held at the low-security FCI, at 15801 SW 137 Ave., near ZooMiami.

Peter Navarro, who served as an adviser to former President Donald Trump and was sentenced to four months for defying a subpoena, is an inmate at the adjacent minimum security satellite camp.

Earlier this year, a 43-year-old Puerto Rican inmate escaped the facility and later surrendered.

A source familiar with the environment at FCI Miami said members of the Puerto Rican prison gangs La Asociación ÑETA and El Grupo De Los 27 regularly engage in conflict there.
