Mississippi State basketball lands Miami transfer

Michael Nwoko has committed to Mississippi State basketball, he announced via Instagram on Wednesday. He comes to MSU out of the transfer portal after spending one season at Miami.

With the Hurricanes, the 6-foot-10 center appeared in 28 games with one start. He averaged 2.6 points and two rebounds while playing 8.6 minutes per game. One of his best outings came on Nov. 28 when he scored eight points on 3-6 shooting while collecting six rebounds in 18 minutes at Kentucky.

Nwoko is a native Canadian out of Toronto. However, his high school career took place in the United States. He spent his first two years at St. Thomas More in Connecticut, went to The Burlington School in North Carolina as a junior and finished at Prolific Prep in California.

As a prospect in the 2023 class, Nwoko was given a four-star rating by multiple publications. However, he was a three-star player in the 247Sports Composite rankings.
