Suspect accused of pointing gun at woman after tax return dispute in Miami

MIAMI – A Miami woman could be spending quite some time behind bars after police said she pointed a gun at another woman following a dispute over a tax return last month.

On Feb. 29th at around 2 p.m. Miami police officers said they were dispatched to respond to an aggravated assault incident at a home in the 500 block of Northwest 33rd Street, near the city’s Design District.

Authorities said the victim and a man, who have been in a relationship for the past two years, reported an altercation involving 35-year-old Roseshawn Michelle Williams, with whom the man shares a child.

The victim recounted hearing excessive honking from a vehicle outside her home, which she identified as belonging to Williams.

Miami police said Williams confronted the victim regarding tax refund money, prompting the victim to explain that the matter was between the witness and Williams.

The situation escalated as Williams hurled insults and brandished a black semi-automatic handgun from her sling bag, aiming it at the victim while stating, “Now what?”

After the victim’s boyfriend and threat to involve the authorities, Williams fled the scene in an eastbound direction. The victim expressed fear for her life during the confrontation.

On March 8, the victim provided a sworn, audio-recorded statement at the Miami Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit where she reiterated the events of the incident, emphasizing Williams’ “aggressive behavior,” police said.

Detectives later administered a photographic lineup to the victim, who positively identified Williams as the individual who had threatened her with the gun, according to an arrest report.

Williams was apprehended by the City of Miami Felony Apprehension Team on Wednesday and was later transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Jail records show she is facing one count of aggravated assault with a firearm.

Williams did not appear in the Miami-Dade Corrections’ inmate search as of Friday morning.
