2 in custody after warrants issued following February shooting in southwest Miami-Dade


MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – The Miami-Dade Police Department’s Special Response Team executed warrants Tuesday morning at two homes for suspects believed to be involved in a drive-by shooting last month.

Detective Argemis Colome confirmed that two people were taken into custody.

He said the warrants were served at a home in the 12900 block of Southwest 252nd Terrace and at a second home in the 26300 block of Southwest 131st Court.

According to Colome, the drive-by shooting was reported at 10:38 p.m. Feb. 17 in the 11300 block Southwest 190th Lane.

He said officers arrived at the scene to find a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

A Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crew transported him to Jackson South Medical Center in stable condition.

Colome said detectives discovered that the suspects and victim were known to each other.

Further details about the motive behind the shooting and the suspects’ identities have not yet been released.
