Off-duty Miami-Dade Police officer shot at while driving with family – NBC 6 South Florida

Police are investigating after an off-duty Miami-Dade Police officer was shot at while driving with his family Tuesday in a possible case of road rage.

The officer was driving southbound on Northeast 18th Avenue in his personal vehicle while the subject attempted to make a left turn onto Northeast 183rd Street, according to Miami-Dade Police.

“Without any provocation,” police said, the subject took out a firearm, shot at the rear fender of the officer’s car, and drove away.

No one was injured. Miami-Dade Police did not provide a motive but North Miami Beach Police said in a post on X that the area was temporarily closed “due to a road rage incident.”

Officials did not provide a description of the shooter or vehicle.
