Where to watch Inter Miami vs FC Dallas: Live stream, TV channel, lineups for Messi’s preseason friendly match

After opening the preseason schedule with a 0-0 draw with the El Salvador national team on Friday, Lionel Messi and Inter Miami travel back to the United States for a friendly against fellow MLS side FC Dallas at the Cotton Bowl on Monday.

Inter Miami’s preseason schedule is a jam-packed run of matches all over the globe, but they will play this one domestically before heading out to matches in Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, and Japan.

The management of minutes for Messi and his fellow aging stars will be a talking point all season long for Gerardo “Tata” Martino and Inter Miami, so it’s fitting that it will also be discussed heavily in preseason as well. With Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and new signing Luis Suarez all playing 45 minutes against El Salvador just three days prior, it remains to be seen how involved they will be here in Dallas.

The Sporting News brings you a full look at the second of the seven-match preseason journey for Inter Miami, which takes the MLS club to the Cotton Bowl to face fellow MLS side FC Dallas.

Inter Miami vs FC Dallas lineups & team news

The 2024 preseason began on Friday with Lionel Messi a part of the Inter Miami squad, and he started the match alongside fellow aging stars Sergio BusquetsJordi Alba, and new signing Luis Suarez. All four were withdrawn at halftime, logging 45 minutes as they ramp up to the new campaign.

Having played a full half just three days prior, it remains to be seen whether those four will again be deployed from the start, or if they will come off the bench to log 30 minutes or so in the second half before jetting off to the rest of their long and complicated international preseason tour.

Goalkeeper Drake Callender was with the U.S. national team over the weekend, who played Slovenia in nearby San Antonio, so it’s possible he could make the short trip through Texas to join up with his club teammates for this match.

Inter Miami predicted starting lineup (5-3-2): Callender (GK) — Taylor, McVey, Aviles, Sailor, Alba — Ruiz, Busquets, Cremaschi — Messi, Campana.

Like the aforementioned Drake Callender, FC Dallas duo Bernard Kamungo and Nkosi Tafari were part of the USMNT January camp, and could potentially link back up with their club for this match, but their participation will remain to be seen, contingent on a few factors like recovery from camp and fitness levels.

New signing Enes Sali, just 17 years old, probably won’t factor in quite yet to the first team, but he could see time in preseason to help him get acclimated. He is eligible to play for the Canadian national team but would need to file a one-time switch after already earning his first senior cap with Romania.

The club also signed former USMNT veteran defender Omar Gonzalez this offseason after he played a role for New England down the stretch last season. Winger Alan Velasco is still recovering from a torn ACL suffered last season.

FC Dallas predicted starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Paes (GK) — Twumasi, Ibeagha, O. Gonzalez, Junqua — Lletget, Illarremendi — Kamungo, Pomykal, Arriola — Ferreira.
