Police identify victim killed in southwest Miami-Dade shooting


MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police identified a victim Saturday who they say was killed in a shooting in southwest Miami-Dade Friday night.

According to authorities, the shooting happened just before 10 p.m. in the area of Southwest 177th Street and Southwest 104th Avenue, in the county’s West Perine area.

Police identified Daleon Brown Jr. as the victim killed in the shooting.

Detectives have not released information on the victim’s age or confirmed if any arrests were made.

Saturday’s incident was the second fatality reported this week in Miami-Dade County’s West Perrine neighborhood.

Detectives with the Miami-Dade Police Department are also investigating after a woman was found dead in the area of Southwest 174th Terrace and 103rd Avenue.

An MDPD spokesperson confirmed that investigators were at the scene investigating the woman’s death, but listed her cause of death as “unclassified” pending an autopsy.

Family members told Local 10 News the woman was pregnant, homeless and had just been released from jail.

Local 10 News has reached out to Miami-Dade police for more information on both incidents.

Any information that leads to an arrest in Brown’s case will receive a reward of up to $5,000.
