Miami man accused of sex crimes against teen who went to his home to play video games

MIAMI – A 21-year-old Miami man was arrested Tuesday on accusations that he repeatedly had sex with a 14-year-old girl who would go over to his home to play video games, authorities said.

According to his arrest report, Miami police were contacted on Jan. 2 in reference to a possible sexual assault and met with the victim who was in the pediatrics unit of Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Police said the teen told them that Kevin Antonio Miranda was her friend’s neighbor and she had been going over to his house ever since they met about a week prior to play video games.

But the victim claimed Miranda began “touching her inappropriately” and they eventually had sex, according to the report.

The report states that the two had sex about four times since they met.

According to police, the victim’s friend eventually confronted Miranda on New Year’s Eve about “being with” the victim because of her age, and the victim got upset and left the home.

Police said a missing person’s report was filed and the victim posted a photo on social media the next day showing her with Miranda at his house.

The report does not disclose how she eventually ended up at the hospital, but police say she identified Miranda in a single photograph.

He was located Tuesday and arrested on a charge of lewd and lascivious battery on a child.

According to his arrest report, he admitted to meeting the victim through his neighbor and said they hung out and played video games.

As of Wednesday, Miranda was being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Jail records show he was on probation at the time of his arrest for another case involving an armed robbery/carjacking.
