Man accused of uploading child rape videos while living in Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A former southwest Miami-Dade man is back in South Florida facing 10 felonies after agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said he uploaded dozens of child sexual abuse videos to a cloud storage service.

Authorities took Pedro Manuel Miyares, 40, of Richmond, Texas, into custody at the Miami International Airport on Friday.

A December arrest warrant states that the investigation into Miyares began in April 2022, after authorities received a tip from storage service Synchronoss that child sexual abuse material had been uploaded to his account.

Authorities said in August of that year, they found 20 files, including videos depicting girls as young as 3 being raped or otherwise sexually abused.

Police said they surveilled Miyares’ West Kendall home in March 2023 and saw a man matching his description with two girls, who appeared to be between the ages of 7 and 9. The warrant doesn’t specify whether they were related to him.

Less than two weeks later, police received a tip that Miyares had uploaded another child rape video to the cloud, the warrant states.

A May tip, authorities said, revealed about 50 more files. Authorities continued surveilling him that month and saw him with the two girls, the warrant states.

By mid-July, authorities said Miyares had moved out and investigators traced him to Texas.

A federal agent surveilled him at his new home in the Houston suburb of Richmond, the warrant states. In October, they saw Miyares walk from a minivan to the home carrying a car seat.

He was not listed in Miami-Dade jail records Monday.
