Horses found slaughtered in southwest Miami-Dade – NBC 6 South Florida

Police are investigating after two horses that were reported stolen were found slaughtered in a rural area of southwest Miami-Dade Wednesday.

The incident happened in the 20600 block of Southwest 168th Street.

Aerial footage showed the remains of the butchered horses on a grassy area next to a dirt road, with police at the scene.

Miami-Dade Police officials confirmed that they’re investigating the incident and believe whoever did it wanted to sell the horse meat.

According to police, an unknown number of suspects entered a nearby residence through a cut fence and stole the two adult horses.

The owner of the horses believes the criminals were watching her before stealing them.

“Were they watching me? They must have, they knew the perimeter, they knew how to even get out. It was a tight spot to get out,” she said. “Honestly, they catch these people, there will be 10 more behind them, it’s never going to stop.”

Police are investigating.

“Investigators are urging the community, if they have seen anything regarding a horse slaughter or even horse meat, if anyone has approached you to sell you horse meat our investigators are urging you to call Crime Stoppers where you will remain anonymous,” Det Andre Martin said.

No other information was immediately known.
