Miami football players who will receive significant Pinstripe Bowl Snap Increases
The Miami football team is projected to be without seven starters for the Pinstripe Bowl versus Rutgers on Thursday. Quarterback Jacurri Brown is the most obviously player who will receive a significant increase in snaps for Miami. Miami is expected to be without four starters on offense and three on defense in the Pinstripe Bowl.
Brown has not played a snap this season. A compound arm fracture to true freshman Emory Williams and the transfer of Tyler Van Dyke leaves Brown as the only healthy scholarship QB on the Miami roster for the Pinstripe Bowl. Brown completed 60.0 percent of his passes for 230 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions.
A true dual-threat QB, Brown also ran 53 times for 221 yards in 2022. Expect Miami to lean heavily on the run with Brown and running backs Ajay Allen, Mark Fletcher and Henry Parrish versus Rutgers. Allen should see an increase in snaps with Don Chaney Jr. entering the transfer portal. Allen will also see an increase in carries.
The Miami offensive line will be without left guard Javion Cohen and center Matt Lee who opted out of the Pinstripe Bowl to get ready for the NFL Draft. Ryan Rodriguez is the projected starting center for Miami with Luis Cristobal backing him. Matthew McCoy will receive the most snaps of his career at left guard.
The Miami defensive line has been decimated by injuries and transfers. Miami lost three edge rushers to the transfer portal. True freshmen Rueben Bain and Jayden Wayne are the projected starters for Miami at edge rusher. Bain was the 2023 ACC Defensive Freshman of the Year. Wayne has 10 tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks.

Miami starting safeties Kamren Kinchens and James Williams have opted out of the Pinstripe Bowl and will not return to the Hurricanes in 2024 to enter the NFL Draft. Te’Cory Couch will be one of the safeties versus Rutgers. Miami has a few options with Jaden Davis, Jaden Harris and Jaidus Richard potentially playing safety.
