What channel is Appalachian State vs. Miami (Ohio) on today? Time, TV schedule to watch 2023 Cure Bowl

The Miami (Ohio) football program is looking to reach heights not achieved since Ben Roethlisberger’s days with the RedHawks.

After toppling Toledo, 23-14, in the MAC Championship Game — earning the program’s first MAC title since 2019 — Miami (Ohio) tallied its 11th win of the season. Now, the RedHawks aim for their 12th win against Appalachian State in the Cure Bowl. It’s a mark last reached by Roethlisberger’s team, back in 2003.

The RedHawks will rely heavily on running back Rashad Amos and third-string quarterback Henry Hesson. Backup Aveon Smith — who had been starting in place of the injured Brett Gabbert — entered the transfer portal last week.

The Mountaineers, meanwhile, rattled off five consecutive victories to close the regular season after starting the year 3-4. They earned their fourth appearance in the Sun Belt Championship Game, where they fell to Troy, 49-23.

Appalachian State is led by junior quarterback Joey Aguilar, whose 33 touchdowns are tied for third-most nationally, despite beginning the season as the backup.

It’s the first ever meeting between the two programs. Shawn Clark’s Mountaineers are back in a bowl game after a one-year hiatus, while Chuck Martin has his RedHawks bowling for a third consecutive year.
