Miami Dolphins at Washington Commanders: Game predictions, picks, odds

play

The Miami Dolphins (8-3) weren’t perfect last week, but they remain in the winning column as one of the more dominant teams in the league as they take on the Washington Commanders (4-8) in Week 13 action.

Mike McDaniel and company beat the New York Jets 34-13 last week. Tua Tagovailoa threw two interceptions in the first half and lost a fumble, but Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill each had 100-yard receiving days with Hill adding a score. Miami’s defense picked off Tim Boyle twice but lost linebacker Jaelan Phillips to a torn Achilles.

The Commanders fired defensive coaches Jack Del Rio and Brent Vieselmeyer after they dropped their third straight game with a 45-10 Thanksgiving loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Sam Howell had his fifth 300-yard game of the season and a rushing touchdown. But Washington’s defense, who sent away Chase Young and Montez Sweat at the trade deadline, allowed Dallas’ offense to score five touchdowns.

Will this be a cake walk for the Dolphins? Or will the Commanders rally for the upset?

Lorenzo Reyes: Dolphins 33, Commanders 14

Washington’s pass protection is horrendous and the Dolphins rank sixth in the NFL in sacks per pass attempt (10%). The Miami speed will be a problem for Washington and the Commanders might be on the verge of their season completely imploding. I love the Dolphins here, especially since Washington is 0-4-1 against the spread at FedEx Field.

Tyler Dragon: Dolphins 31, Commanders 20

Miami can’t get a win against a team above .500, but they beat opponents who are deprived of victories. The Commanders have lost three straight games and their coaching staff is starting to realize their days are numbered in D.C. Miami wins comfortably in this one.

Safid Deen: Dolphins 27, Commanders 23

Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins are favored to win by at least nine points, but they could be challenged by Commanders starter Sam Howell, who leads the NFL in passing yards. We’ll see how the Dolphins’ defense holds without rising defensive end Jaelan Phillips, who is lost for the season after an Achilles tear.

Victoria Hernandez: Dolphins 30, Commanders 15

Even with Tua Tagovailoa throwing two picks last week, the Dolphins weren’t rattled and asserted their dominance yet again. The Commanders have dropped three straight and their defense is sorely missing Montez Sweat and Chase Young. There shouldn’t be much of a competition here.

Jordan Mendoza: Dolphins 38, Commanders 24

One of the best offenses against the worst-scoring defense. The Commanders have their work cut out for them if they want to keep up with Miami, especially with the Dolphins’ defense improving. Washington isn’t able to stop the Miami offense in a game that is a strong contender to hit the over.
