KB Soccer Club teams taking the soccer world by storm after starring in Legends Cup tournament | Key Biscayne

Soccer season has just kicked off and already teams from the Key Biscayne Soccer Club have stamped their feet among the state’s best and, in two cases, the country’s best.

Participating in the recent Legends Cup in Miami, 27 local boys teams took the pitch. They came away with one of the strongest performances on record in the event, crowning 15 champions, four finalists and three semifinalists.

In addition, Coach Hernán Acosta’s U12 and U13 teams (KBSC Elite 2011 and 2012) are now ranked first in the country and Canada among Division I Diamond Tier squads based on total ranking points.

Nine fields in the Miami area were utilized for the season-opening event, including Amelia Earhart Park and Brian Piccolo Park.

The Key Biscayne Soccer Club was founded in 1971, and like the sport’s popularity in America, the ball began rolling slowly – until about 14 years ago. Under new leadership, the club has evolved from 220 players to 980 and quickly was earmarked among the top five Miami-Dade County youth sports clubs.

Now, with pee-wee divisions (ages 3 and 4) and a continually growing girls’ program, the club continues to attract interest from on and off the island.

In 2022, the Key Biscayne Soccer Club was among just a few organizations invited by Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami CF to participate in its Club Partnership Program, playing in their events, scrimmages, and joining in on coaching seminars and player tryouts.

This year, the Boys U13-U19 Elite teams were among 10 clubs in South and Central Florida invited to participate in the Florida Youth Soccer Association Academy Club League. The Boys U12 Elite team was selected to play in the Florida Academy League.

More than 40 of Key Biscayne’s players have played soccer at the collegiate level. Over 70 have graduated to play in the MLS Next academies with Kendall Rush Soccer, Westin FC and Inter Miami CF.

The most recent well-known standout from the Key Biscayne Soccer Club, Benjamin Cremaschi, turned in an outstanding rookie season this year for Inter Miami CF.
