Miami football at North Carolina State: full injury report

Entering November the injury reports are growing nationally. Mario Cristobal announced earlier this week that the Miami football team will be without defensive lineman Akheem Mesidor for the remainder of the season. Miami has the depth to absorb losing Nyjalik Kelly and Mesidor for the remainder of the season.

True freshman Rueben Bain has been exceptional with Kelly and Mesidor out. Bain is ninth in the ACC with 7.5 TFLs and fourth with 6.5 sacks. In the last three games, Bain has 18 tackles, six TFLs and five sacks. Miami leads the ACC with 63 TFLs and is second with 28 sacks. NC State is 12th in the ACC allowing TFLs.

Miami running back Don Chaney Jr. and tight end Elijah Arroyo are listed as questionable for the Hurricanes versus North Carolina State. Chaney did not play versus Virginia after suffering an injury against Clemson two weeks ago. Arroyo played 12 snaps versus Virginia behind starting TE Cam McCormick who played 36.

In addition to Kelly and Mesidor, RB Tre’Vonte Citizen and offensive lineman Samson Okunlola who previously suffered a season-ending injury are listed as out for Miami. Cristobal has stated that Citizen is close to making his Miami football debut after suffering a significant knee injury during August 2022 training camp.

Team Rankings lists North Carolina State TE Trent Pennix and RB Demarcus Jones II as questionable. Pennix did not play last week versus Clemson because of a leg injury. Jones also sat out last week. Pennix has 11 for 136 yards and two touchdowns this season. Jones has four carries for minus six yards rushing.

North Carolina State safeties Rakeim Ashford and Jakeen Harris who each have two tackles this season are listed as out for the Wolfpack. Pennix is clearly the most significant loss. The redshirt senior is fifth on NC State in receptions and receiving yards and is only one of four Wolfpack receivers with a TD reception this season.
