Lionel Messi’s favorite former Barcelona teammate will sign with Inter Miami in 2024

Lionel Messi‘s first (half) season with Inter Miami, all in all, was a success. The club won its first-ever trophy and reached the US Open Cup final, but a Messi hamstring injury left the team without a playoff spot.

While certain players stepped up once Messi arrived, others didn’t show enough for the club to have faith in them going forward. As the team looks to improve, a familiar face is set to join and form an attacking partnership with Messi that reaped plenty of goals in the past.

Luis Suarez will sign with Inter Miami

According to a report from Cesar Luis Merlo, who is very plugged into Argentinian soccer developments, Luis Suarez will be signing with Inter Miami ahead of next season.

The tea leaves had signaled this was coming for quite some time. Ever since Messi agreed to join Inter Miami, Suarez rumors began swirling. With all designated player slots filled up and Suarez under contract, it was impossible for it to happen in 2023.

But with Suarez becoming a free agent at the end of this year and Miami releasing Josef Martinez to make room, the time is now for the Uruguayan and Argentinian to join forces once again.

Suarez will be joining Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba as well, as Inter Miami have brought together nearly one half of the Barcelona starting lineup that won the 2015 Champions League final.
