David Beckham met Real Madrid player to discuss Inter Miami move

Inter Miami have already signed quite a few legends in recent times. Of course, Lionel Messi joining the MLS side has been a landscape-changing move when it comes to football in the United States of America. David Beckham’s side have brought in Barcelona icons, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, as well. And now, it looks like they have a Real Madrid hero in their sights.

This is a transitional phase for Real Madrid. The Old Guard is starting to make way for the superstars of the future.

Unfortunately, that has seen Luka Modric lose his status as a starter. Now 38 years of age, this day was bound to come sooner or later. Rumours have suggested that the Croatian is not happy with his reduced role though, having spent more than a decade as a stalwart in Real Madrid’s starting XI.

Naturally, questions have been raised about his future at the club, even though he signed an extension very recently. And it looks like Inter Miami could be a possible destination for the one-time Ballon d’Or winner.

As reported by Cadena SER, Beckham is working behind the scenes with the aim of bringing Modric to Inter Miami for next season. As revealed by Jose Antonio Ponseti, the president of the American club met several weeks ago with the Real Madrid icon in Croatia and they spoke about a possible move to the MLS side.

On paper, it would make sense for Modric to go to a club like Inter Miami to finish his career. If things don’t change, it is pretty clear that his time at Real Madrid is set to come to an end soon.

Modric was brought on for the last 25 minutes against Napoli. In the previous two games, he was an unused substitute.
