Where to look for rivalry football game

It’s never too early to start looking ahead to a rivalry game, especially one has storied as Florida State vs. Miami.

Seminoles and Hurricanes fans had Nov. 11 circled on their calendars since before the season started. But now that both teams have finished their September schedules undefeated, the game at Tallahassee’s Doak Campbell Stadium is now looking like a potential ACC Championship Game preview.

No. 4 FSU (4-0, 2-0 in ACC) wrapped up September with a 31-24 win at Clemson with quarterback Jordan Travis throwing the winning touchdown to Keon Coleman in overtime. No. 18 Miami (4-0, 0-0) ended its non-conference slate with a 41-7 thrashing of Temple. The ‘Canes have a Heisman candidate of their own in QB Tyler Van Dyke, who is fourth in the nation in passing efficiency with a 197.81 rating.

The two Florida teams had one of the seminal college football rivalries for decades with the two facing off as ranked opponent 23 times between 1981 and 2006 and made “Wide Right” a trilogy on par with “The Lord of the Rings” (or maybe “The Hobbit” if you’re a Seminoles fan). The rivalry may not be back to its former heights — FSU and Miami met as top-5 teams three years in a row from 1991-93 — but the passion among the fanbases never left.
