Nora District, Aventura Mall, Merrick Park Nab Tenants


Loco Taqueria & Oyster Bar, H&H Bagels, more | Nora District | West Palm Beach 

The Nora District scored its first tenants. The leased space is at warehouses along Railroad Avenue that are being redeveloped as part of the long overlooked Nora’s first phase. 

Loco Taqueria & Oyster Bar will open its first restaurant outside its home base in Boston in 6,600 square feet of indoor and outdoor space at 840 North Railroad Avenue, according to the developers’ news release. New York-based H&H Bagels took 880 square feet at 890 North Railroad Avenue, and Van Leeuwen Ice Cream took 880 square feet at 870 North Railroad Avenue.

Also, fitness brand [solidcore], which uses a reformer inspired by Pilates, leased 2,600 square feet at 915 North Railroad Avenue; and boxing gym Rumble leased 2,900 square feet at 905 North Railroad Avenue. 

Francis Scire, who heads Nora leasing, represented the developers in the deals. 

The tenants are expected to open after developers NDT Development and Place Projects, in partnership with Wheelock Street Capital, complete the first phase next year. NDT is led by Ned Grace, and Place Projects is led by Joe Furst.

The 40-acre Nora, from Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard south to Quadrille Boulevard and from Dixie Highway west to the FEC Railway tracks, also will have mid-rise and high-rise buildings on vacant lots in the north and south area of the district. This will include a 201-key hotel in partnership with hoteliers Richard Born and Sean MacPherson. 

The single-family homes and townhouses in the center of Nora will be preserved. 

It’Sugar | Miami Beach 

Candy store It’Sugar will open on Miami Beach’s Lincoln Road. 

The Fort Lauderdale-based brand signed a five-year lease for 2,800 square feet at 801 Lincoln Road, according to the landlord’s news release. The tenant is expected to open in November. 

It’Sugar, which has more than 100 outposts in North America, is a subsidiary of BBX Capital. 

Coral Gables-based Terranova, led by Stephen Bittel, owns the three-story building as part of its seven-property Lincoln Road portfolio spanning over 137,000 square feet. 

Altar by Gustavo Cadile | Aventura Mall | Aventura

Wedding dress shop Altar by Gustavo Cadile opened at Aventura Mall

The store leased 1,400 square feet at the mall at 19501 Biscayne Boulevard, according to the tenant’s news release. Cadile is an Argentine designer whose dresses blend influences from his home country, as well as Italy. 

Turnberry Associates, led by Jackie Soffer, and Simon Property Group, led by David Simon, own Aventura Mall. 

Savvy Sliders | Tamarac

Savvy Sliders opened its first Florida restaurant in Tamarac

The Farmington Hills, Michigan-based eatery leased 2,300 square feet at 2400 West Commercial Boulevard, according to a Savvy Sliders news release. Savvy Sliders is led by  Happy Asker, who opened his first restaurant in 2018. 

Records show North Miami Beach-based CK Holding Group owns the property. 

Sunbelt Rentals | Pompano Beach 

Construction and property maintenance equipment provider Sunbelt Rentals took office and industrial space in Pompano Beach

Sunbelt leased a 3,300-square-foot office and a 7,200-square-foot warehouse at 2063 Blount Road, according to a news release from the landlord’s broker.

Records show an entity led by George Kostakis owns the property. 

Bagels & Co. | Fort Lauderdale, Wilton Manors 

Bagels & Co. will open two restaurants in Broward County. 

The Philadelphia-based eatery took 2,100 square feet at 21 Southwest Seventh Street in Fort Lauderdale, and 2,100 square feet at 1015 Northeast 26th Street in Wilton Manors, according to the tenant’s news release. The restaurants are expected to open next month. 

The leases are part of Bagels & Co.’s planned opening of 20 outposts in Florida and Pennsylvania this year and next. Glu Hospitality founded and owns Bagels & Co. Mike Marsh, a former investment banker with Guggenheim Partners, is among the venture capitalists and investors backing Bagels & Co. 

Aventura-based Triarch Capital Group owns the Fort Lauderdale building, according to records. An entity led by Thomas Korakis and Clay Anderson owns the Wilton Manors property. 

Camilla, Tory Burch | Shops at Merrick Park | Coral Gables

Shops at Merrick Park scored two fashion retailers. 

Camilla, a brand created by Australian designer Camilla Franks, will open early next month on the first level of the three-story mall at 358 San Lorenzo Avenue in Coral Gables, according to a Shops at Merrick Park news release. The opening comes on the heels of Tory Burch setting up a shop at the mall, also on the first level. 

Clothing store Splendid also opened at Shops at Merrick Park. Furniture and décor store Arhaus is expected to open soon. 

Brookfield Properties, the North America real estate division of Canadian investment firm Brookfield, owns Shops at Merrick Park. Brian Kingston leads Brookfield’s real estate business.
