‘Can’t Nobody Guard Me:’ Miami Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill Takes a Victory Lap After Roasting Chargers

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is probably the most dangerous weapon in the National Football League. And the scariest part: He might still be getting better.

Hill absolutely torched the Los Angeles Chargers in Sunday’s wild 36-34 Dolphins victory, lighting up the Bolts for 215 yards and two touchdowns on 11 catches.

The last of those 11 catches? A four-yard, go-ahead touchdown from Tua Tagovailoa with 1:45 left on the clock.

It was the best we’ve seen Hill in a Dolphins uniform — and that’s no surprise. He knows Miami’s system far better than he did a year ago.

“It would be very, very accurate to say we saw a better version of him today within the offense and I think [scheme familiarity is] a big part of his success,” Dolphins coach McDaniel said Sunday.

In his postgame news conference, Hill said matter-of-factly what was abundantly clear to anyone who watched Sunday’s shootout:

“I just feel like can’t nobody guard me.”

The Chargers certainly couldn’t.

His 11 catches and 215 receiving yards not only led all Dolphins receivers Sunday, they led all NFL receivers heading into the Sunday Night Game.

It was tied for the second-most receiving yards in Hill’s great career, and the fourth-most by any Dolphins receiver — ever.

And this was no empty stat-padding. The Dolphins needed every catch. Both of his touchdowns gave the Dolphins the lead, including the last, which put Miami ahead for good.

Hill’s first score was a 35-yarder on a deep route past J.C. Jackson.

After the game, he broke down the play:

“Our coaches, they do a great job of giving the defense a certain look. I was inside releasing the whole game and that’s what the corner was expecting. So inside released the whole game and Mike and Tua, they came to me, it was like, ‘What do you think about Z-Sky?’

“And I was like, you know what, that sounds like a great idea because I’ve been releasing inside. The corner isn’t gonna be expecting me to release outside. And sure enough, I had him with the inside move and I was wide open. I was able to use my speed. Tua delivered a great pass.”
