Could Luka Modric join Lionel Messi at Inter Miami?

In a season that is proving to be one of significant changes for Inter Miami, with the arrivals of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, a rumour has now emerged regarding a potential addition of Luka Modric to the DRV PNK Stadium institution in the upcoming months.

All of this has been triggered by a couple of images in which he is seen engaged in conversation with David Beckham.

MLS open to ‘free agent’ Modric

The meeting between the MLS franchise owner of The Herons and the esteemed Real Madrid midfielder took place on an island of Šipan in Croatia, while the Croatian international was enjoying some time off following his participation in the match that pitted the Merengues against Celta de Vigo at Balaídos. The former English player was on vacation with his family.

It’s worth noting that there is currently an opportunity for registrations in the Major League Soccer for the remainder of the season. However, any players who join would need to do so as free agents, a category that does not apply to Modric due to his contract with the European Champions lasting until mid-2024. Unless there is a quick change to this, the legendary runner-up of the 2018 World Cup will become a free agent on 30 June of that year.

What could be intriguing is that in addition to the fact that the Balkan player is under contract with Real Madrid, should an agreement be reached for the termination of his association with the Santiago Bernabéu side, the DRV PNK Stadium organization has until Friday, 15th of September to conclude the inclusion of players of this sort, within the framework of the 2023 squad freeze date.

What’s happening with Modric at Real Madrid?

Modric’s situation is rather intricate, as after dedicating the prime years of his career to the club, and being elevated by the same institution to the Ballon d’Or, he currently finds himself lacking the desired prominence in Carlo Ancelotti’s team. He has been relegated to the substitutes’ bench at the outset of LaLiga EA Sports due to a tactical shift featuring Jude Bellingham, Tchouaméni, Camavinga, and Valverde.

From battling Busquets and Messi to working together towards a common goal is an exciting prospect.
