New OL commit Kavion Broussard fits Miami football mantra

Mario Cristobal praised the offensive line following the scrimmage on Saturday saying that “we looked a little bit different up front with our size and power.”  At 6’6 and 276 pounds, offensive tackle Kavion Broussard who committed to the Miami football program on Sunday perfectly fits the description by Cristobal.

Broussard is the 615th ranked prospect, 48th OT and 18th recruit in Louisiana out of Zachary in the 2024 247 Sports composite rankings. Broussard is the third OT and fourth offensive lineman committed to Miami in the 2024 class. Miami previously received commitments from Juan Minaya, Deryc Plazz and Nino Francavilla.

Minaya and Plazz are listed as OTs that could slide inside in college. Francavilla is listed as an interior OL that is projected at center. Broussard took official visits to Missouri and Texas Tech in June. Miami offered Broussard in March. Broussard should fit in with Miami offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson who is a Louisiana native.

Miami is one of 11 schools that offered Broussard. That includes Atlantic Coast Conference rivals Florida State and Georgia Tech. On3 is reporting that Broussard will take his official visit to Miami the weekend of September 9 for the Texas A&M game. The commitment from Broussard moves Miami to the 15th ranked class nationally.

Broussard is the third committment this weekend for the Miami football program. The Hurricanes received a commitment from four-star defensive lineman Elias Rudolph on Saturday and three-star 2025 quarterback Luke Nickel on Friday. Miami offensive line coach Alex Mirabal was the primary recruiter for Broussard.

Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U reported that Broussard’s high school coach sent film from their training camp to Miami after he missed the spring with a shoulder injury. Broussard used the time to heal from the injury to build more mass in his body. Broussard could be a commit who continues to rise in the rankings.
