Where CBS Sports ranks Miami football and 2023 opponents


The Miami footballteam is ranked 37th nationally by CBS Sports entering the 2023 season. CBS Sports released the rankings on Tuesday. Miami is the sixth highest-ranked team in the ACC in the CBS Sports rankings. Florida State, Clemson, North Carolina, Pittsburgh and Louisville are all ranked ahead of Miami.

Florida State is ranked eighth, Clemson ninth, North Carolina 20th, Pittsburgh 32nd and Louisville 34th in the CBS Sports rankings. Miami is picked to finish fifth in the ACC by the conference media members. The ACC released its preseason poll on Tuesday. Miami plays four of the five ACC teams ranked ahead of them.

Miami plays at Florida State on November 11, hosts Clemson on October 21, is at North Carolina on October 14 and hosts Louisville on November 18. Texas A&M who is ranked 24th by CBS Sports is the other team on the 2023 Miami schedule ranked ahead of them. The Hurricanes host the Aggies on September 9.

The other teams on the 2023 Miami football schedule are Miami (Ohio) who is 96th on September 1, at Temple who is 116th on September 23, Georgia Tech who is 74th on October 7, 89th ranked Virginia on October 28, number 40 North Carolina State on November 4 and at 79th ranked Boston College on November 28.

Miami had three players selected as preseason All-ACC. Safety Kamren Kinchens, guard Javion Cohen and kicker Andy Borregales who chosen preseason All-ACC by the conference’s media. Kinchens was first-team All-ACC and a first-team All-American in 2022. Kinchens is the first returning Miami All-American since 2006.

Miami has a favorable schedule to quickly move up those rankings early in the season. If Miami can defeat Texas A&M, they will have an excellent chance to begin the season 5-0. Miami is projected to be favored versus Miami (Ohio), Bethune-Cookman, Temple and Georgia Tech in four of its first five games.

Miami could be the underdog in five of its last seven games. Two of those games are at home versus Clemson and Louisville. Miami will almost definitely be the underdog versus Clemson, Florida State and North Carolina. North Carolina State will likely be favored versus Miami depending on how the season plays out.
