Joshisa Trader Miami football highest rated WR commit since 2004

Five-star prospect Joshisa Trader is the highest-rated wide receiver commit to the Miami football program since Lance Leggett in 2004. Leggett finished his Miami career with 70 receptions for 1,137 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns from 2004 through 2007. Trader is the 25th prospect, third athlete and fifth in Florida in 2024.

Not keeping top-ranked WRs at home has been an issue for Miami. Trader is one of four elite offensive skill position players that have committed to Miami in the 2024 class. Miami previously received commitments from four-star prospects, running back Kevin Riley, tight end Elijah Lofton and WR Chance Robinson.

Trader combined for 73 receptions for 1,335 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns in the last two seasons. Trader is listed as an athlete because he has played offense and defense in high school. Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports called Traders a big play waiting to happen and one of the best they have seen in recent years.

At 6’1 and 175 pound Trader teams with the 6.1.5 and 190-pound Robinson to provide the Miami football program with needed length at WR. Miami will lose Alabama transfer, Tyler Harrell and fifth-year season Frank Ladson are entering their last seasons of eligibility. Harrell and Ladson both provide Miami will good size at WR.

Leggett, Ryan Moore in the 2002 class and Willie Dixon in 2000 are the only WRs rated higher than Trader who committed to the Miami football program. Dixon, Leggett, Moore and Trader are the only five-star WRs that have ever committed to Miami. Miami will likely have three five-star players on the 2024 roster.

In addition to Trader Miami has 2023 five-star offensive tackles signees Francis Mauigoa and Samson Okunlola. Juniors, defensive tackle Leonard Taylor and safety James Williams were five-star signees in the 2021 Miami class. Taylor and Williams are eligible for the 2024 NFL Draft and are expected to enter.

Trader committing to Miami pushed the 2024 Miami class from the 21st to 14th. Miami moved up two more spots with a commitment from four-star defensive lineman Artavius Jones on Friday. Trader will be the marque player in the 2024 Miami class unless they receive a commitment from another five-star prospect.
