Miami football building elite 2024 offensive skill position group

The Miami football program is building an elite group of skill position players in the 2024 class. A commitment from five-star wide receiver Joshisa Trade on Thursday was the fourth blue-chip offensive skill position player in the 2024 Miami recruiting class. Miami previously added a blue chip prospect at running back, WR and tight end.

Four-star prospects, running back Kevin Riley, tight end Elija Lofton and WR Chance Robinson preceded Trader as blue-chip prospects in the 2024 Miami football class. Miami also has four-star defensive prospects, edge rusher Marquise Lightfoot and linebacker/safety Cameron Pruitt as blue chip 2024 commits.

The 2024 Miami class is 16th nationally following the commitment from Trader. With Pruitt the sixth-ranked commit in the 2024 Miami class, four of the top five commits are at offensive skill positions. Lightfoot is the only exception as the second-highest-ranked commit to Miami for 2024. Miami focused on the offensive line in 2024.

Offensive tackles Francis Mauigoa and Samson Okunlola were the only 2023 five-star commitments to Miami. Miami signed 13 blue chip players out of 26 signees in the 2023 class. That hit the critical blue chip ratio of 50 percent that the vast majority of college football playoff teams have had on their rosters.

Tight end Riley Williams, WR Nathaniel Joseph and RB Mark Fletcher were the only blue-chip skill position players Miami signed on offense in the 2023 Class. Williams has a grade of 0.9480 to 0.8980 to Lofton. Joseph who will play in the slot received a grade of .9405 to Robinson who is at .9370 with Trader at .9866.

Riley received a 0.9613 grade to Fletcher at .9402. Miami is likely finished adding RBs in the 2024 class with three-star prospect Chris Wheatley-Humphrey also committed to next year’s freshman class. Miami is likely to add one or two more RBs and potentially another TE in their 2024 recruiting class.

Five-star WRs Jeremiah Smith and St. Louis prospect Ryan Wingo are still considering Miami. Smith has been committed to Ohio State since December 2022. Wingo is uncommitted. On3 currently projects Texas as the leader for a Wingo commitment with Notre Dame and Georgia slightly behind.

Kevin Beard, the new Miami WRs coach, new RB coach Tim Harris Jr. and new TEs coach Cody Woodiel have done an exceptional job recruiting in less than six months with the Hurricanes. Mario Cristobal demands his coaches to be tenacious in recruiting. Beard, Harris and Woodiel have lived up to Cristobal’s expectations this far.
