Rydarrius Morgan commits to FSU over Auburn and Miami

Three-star safety prospect Rydarrius Morgan is a player the staff offered earlier this spring while on an unofficial visit. The Alabama product received an offer from Florida the same day, and Miami followed suit with an offer about two weeks later.

It was the only time Morgan was on campus before officially visiting the Noles on June 2nd. He officially visited Cincinnati on June 9 and Miami on June 23.

Auburn is the in-state school with the most traction, even though Alabama offered also. Auburn got Morgan on campus twice this spring for unofficial visits.

Morgan announced a final top six schools list of Alabama, Auburn, FSU, Miami, Cinncinati, and Mississippi State on June 21.

However, it was the Noles in the end, as he announced his commitment on July 4:

He’s the second defensive back (Ricky Knight) FSU has beaten Miami for in less than a week.

I’m not going to lie. I thought Morgan was a backup plan if the coaching staff didn’t land their top targets when he officially visited in early June. However, I did him a disservice by not watching his film like I normally do. When I turned it on, the first play immediately caught my attention.

His closing speed is eye-popping. He’s a sure-tackler like Jammie Robinson, and when he decides to commit in a direction, he gets there in a hurry with bad intentions.

Rydarrius Morgan lists at 6’0 and 175 pounds and is the second defensive back FSU has beaten Miami for within a week. Morgan is also teammates with five-star receiver Cameron Coleman, who FSU has shown interest. Morgan ranks as the No. 564 player and the No. 55 safety nationally.

There’s no way there are 54 more safeties better than him. Morgan indicated the staff didn’t specify what position he’d play, but showed him clips of Jammie Robinson’s career at FSU, which Morgan said was one of his favorite safeties to watch in college.

I’m pretty sure he’ll play the safety position similar to Robinson, as they share many similar traits. One thing Morgan has over Robinson is height and length. He’ll also be a star on special teams.

Morgan had 50 tackles, five tackles for a loss, one sack, two interceptions, one forced fumble, one fumble return, and four passes defended last season.

This addition won’t move the needle much because of his ranking, but this guy is a dawg.
