Damian Lillard enjoying Miami-themed music ‘just a coincidence’

Damian Lillard’s Miami-themed music at a Paris nightclub was “just a coincidence,” according to his agent Aaron Goodwin.

The Portland Trail Blazers superstar enjoyed Will Smith’s “Miami” and Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” which includes the line, “I wanna feel the heat with somebody,” during an Instagram Live video Friday night.

With rampant speculation about Lillard’s future in Portland and a new rumor seemingly every day, the NBA world wondered whether he was trying to send a message to the Miami Heat.

But it was just happenstance, Goodwin claimed.

“The music was just a coincidence,” Goodwin said, per The Athletic.

“Damian’s not disrespectful. He’s not an instigator, so he’s not going to do anything out of character.”

Lillard is in Paris for a “working vacation,” according to Goodwin, via The Athletic, and the DJ at the venue played the music, not the seven-time NBA All-Star.

“There would be no reason for him to do that,” he continued. “That’s why he laughed (in the video).

“It’s a funny coincidence that a DJ would put that on.”

Jimmy Butler added fuel to the fire Saturday when he posted a screenshot of him listening to Lillard, or, Dame D.O.L.L.A’s, song “Money Ball” to his Instagram story.

Lillard has spent all 11 seasons of his career with the Trail Blazers and the last few in near-constant trade rumors.

The Heat have long been seen as a potential destination for Lillard, who has made it known that he wants to compete for a championship sooner rather than later.

After rumors of a trade, the Trail Blazers opted to use the No. 3 overall pick on Scoot Henderson during Thursday’s NBA Draft rather than bring in another star next to Lillard.

During a recent appearance on SiriusXM, Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes said this year is “probably the most serious approach [Lillard] is probably taking to ultimately decided what he’s going to do.”
