Miami football recruiting: Alabama LB Cameron Pruitt picks Canes over Kentucky, Auburn
Mario Cristobal and Miami picked up a commitment Saturday night during one of the biggest recruiting weekends in school history. The pledge comes from Cameron Pruitt, a 6-foot-3, 187-pound linebacker from Theodore (Ala.) High School. Here’s what you need to know:
- Pruitt is ranked No 498 overall and the No. 48 safety in the 247Sports Composite. He had 99 tackles, 15 for loss, with two sacks, an interception and three forced fumbles as a junior. He also had offers from Kentucky and Auburn.
- Pruitt is the 10th commitment the Hurricanes have picked up this cycle and only the second ranked among the top 500 nationally.
- Miami’s lone blue-chip recruit is four-star receiver Chance Robinson.

What does this mean for the Hurricanes?
Pruitt’s addition bumps the Hurricanes into the top 25 in the national recruiting rankings. He is the second linebacker prospect in the class, joining Miami (Fla.) Central three-star prospect Vincent Shavers. He’s also the first official visitor in June to commit to the Canes. Miami is hosting 14 blue- chip recruits this weekend, including six of the top 35 players this cycle.
