Just in: Inter Miami close to finalising Messi’s signing, club very optimistic – report

In a huge development, journalist Veronica Brunati is reporting that FC Barcelona could be set to miss out on the signing of top target and club legend Lionel Messi as he could be bound for MLS outfit Inter Miami.

There had been a lot of talk about Messi’s return to Barcelona materialising without any issues after a meeting took place between the Argentine’s father, Jorge, and club president Joan Laporta.

But, the Blaugrana still cannot go ahead with a formal offer for the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner as they first need to make player sales that can free up space on the wage bill for his incorporation.

Reports suggested that the La Liga champions wanted Messi to wait for a little longer as their move could take a few weeks. However, Jorge Messi indicated last night that a decision on his son’s future could be made in the next 48 hours or so.

Amidst this, Inter Miami are understood to have made significant progress in talks with the Argentina captain’s camp and it is being claimed that they are close to finalising a contract agreement with the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner.

Meanwhile, another journalist Sebastian Quadrelli is also claiming that Inter Miami have everything ready with regard to the contract offer for Messi and that they are expecting an ‘OK’ this week.

He adds that the option of Saudi Arabia has lost ground in recent hours while Messi & co. still have concerns about Barcelona due to how his exit had taken place two years ago.

The Catalans, though, are continuing to do everything possible to try and present a formal offer to Messi at the earliest possible. However, unless some exits materialise, it appears very difficult.

And, Inter Miami could now be well-positioned to secure the signing of the 35-year-old global icon.
