Orchestra Miami invites you to a sweet soiree, May 20

Orchestra Miami invites you to enjoy an evening of delicious food and beverages accompanied by stellar performances about food and drink, all to benefit Orchestra Miami, Saturday, May 20, in the gorgeous Scottish Rite Temple, 471 NW Third St.

Enjoy cocktails and hors d’ouvres at 6 p.m. with musical toasts from the operas Hamlet and Don Giovanni, performed by Philip Kalmanovitch.

Dinner is served at 7 p.m., alongside a performance of Bernstein’s song cycle “La Bonne Cuisine,” performed by Gerardo José Ortega.

At 8 p.m. it’s dessert! Decadent French chocolate cake, accompanied by a performance of Lee Hoiby’s one-act opera Bon Appetit!, where flamboyant master chef Julia Childs bakes you a chocolate cake. Cuban-American mezzo-soprano Erika Vasallo stars as Julia Childs.

Tickets are $100 per person for drinks/dinner/dessert.

Can’t make it for the full evening? Join in for dessert only! For just $25 you can enjoy the performance of Hoiby’s comic opera Bon Appetit!, along with access to the cash bar and a complimentary slice of cake.
