Former Dodgers Owner Jamie McCourt Sells Jupiter Home
The former co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Jamie McCourt, sold her waterfront home in Jupiter’s Admirals Cove for $15.5 million.
Records show McCourt sold her house at 160 Spyglass Lane to William Eugene Burford.
Matthew Dugow of the Carroll Group at Compass had the listing, and Donna Hutchins of Douglas Elliman brought the buyer. Dugow declined to comment on the deal. Donna Hutchins could not be immediately reached for comment.
Burford shares a name with the president of Lincoln, Alabama-based Burford Construction.
McCourt is the former co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and served as the U.S. Ambassador to France and Monaco during the Trump administration. She is the founder and CEO of Jamie Enterprises, her Los Angeles-based investment firm. McCourt is also the daughter of Jack Luskin, who founded the Baltimore, Maryland-based appliance and electronics chain Luskin’s.
McCourt and her then-husband Frank McCourt, a Boston real estate developer, bought the Dodgers in 2004, and she quickly ascended management to become CEO and the highest-ranking woman in Major League Baseball. Shortly into her leadership of the team, the McCourts announced their separation and launched into a heavily-litigated divorce that is considered to be the costliest divorce in California history, the Los Angeles Times reported. The publication estimated the couple’s legal bills at $34.6 million at the time their divorce settlement was announced.
Jamie McCourt walked away from Dodgers ownership in 2011 with $130 million in the settlement, and left her post as president and CEO of the Dodgers in 2012.
She also listed her Napa estate last year, asking $15.5 million for the 22-acre property.
Records show she bought the half-acre waterfront Admirals Cove home for $8 million in 2019. The 6,800-square-foot house has five bedrooms, six bathrooms and two half-bathrooms, property records show. The home also includes an elevator, wine vault, pool, spa and 100 feet of waterfront with space for a 70-foot yacht, according to the listing.
Admirals Cove is a private boating community in Jupiter coveted by big-name luxury buyers. The Mets’ star pitcher Max Scherzer dropped $14.9 million on a second home in Admirals Cove in April, bringing his total amount spent on properties there to $24.7 million.
This month, food services mogul Benjamin Aiello sold a waterfront spec mansion to a San Diego-based surgeon for $17.8 million. Former Miss Pennsylvania Elizabeth Beri and her husband, beverage mogul Raj Beri, sold their mansion for $9.9 million in March.
